The continent of Africa played a major role in nurturing and preserving the nation of Israel. When Herod ordered every child two years of age and under to be killed, Africa became the new home of the Christ Child Jesus for a period of time. Africa at one time fed the world. Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus carry the cross to the finish line, and yet this great continent had its share of immense suffering through the centuries. We have been in and out of Africa many times and many of the countires have changed names a few times. We have witnessed the changes and the effects among the people. But a new wave of change has reached the shores of Africa. Once considered a vast mission field, today Africa sends missionaries to the world. Many have gone to Europe and North America and we personally know of churches in Belgium that are pioneered by people from the Congo. We know of a brother from Nigeria who has left his own country to come to America to hold prayer meetings in every state capitol. Out of the country of Uganda, laborers are now sent to Canada and to the United States. A pastor-evangelist from Ghana has congregations springing up in Washington, D.C. and other parts of America. We were in Gabon in March where one of the pastors told us that they have sent a worker to plant a church in Morocco. ![]() When the Lord sent us to Russia before the breakup of the former Soviet Union, there were already students from Africa witnessing at the universities. This is a new day for Africa! Serge Divounguy invited us to minister last March in Gabon. He was instrumental for us to meet those in government, many of whom are finding their need of the Savior - the King of kings, the Lord Jesus Christ. We were guests of His Excellency the Vice President Divungi Dijob Ndinge of Gabon and his wife Madame Veronique. Both of them are committed believers. What a precious time we had together sharing our faith and the goodness of the Lord in our lives. |
